The Park
Park days are the best days. Forever grateful to have walking access to this space and ready for a summer full of park days.
We observe as this space changes through the seasons, providing countless moments of awe. Today the children excitedly announced that the apple trees were flowering and we reminisced on last fall when I climbed the trees, dropping apples down for them to gather and take home to make applesauce. The space is vibrant with plant life and pollen, reminding us of not too long ago when it was covered in water and awesome mud puddles.
We connect with neighbors and people in our community, who mostly smile at the gaggle of children running around. But we also know that if we come at a certain time of day, we will be lucky enough to see our neighbor walking her parrot. We get excited at every. single. dog. that walks by, toddlers screaming “DOG!”
Watching the children in this space reminds me to be present, to marvel in nature. Reminds me of the value of community and connection. Reminds me of what is truly most important for these children.
